ORL

Introduction

Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ORL), the Sungai Buloh Hospital has started service on August 15, 2006, to patients who have had ear, nose, throat, head and neck. The department has two sub-units, Unit Audiology and Speech Therapy Unit. Department of Otorhinolaryngology UiTM also under the supervision of the Department.

At the end of 2008 the Department was chosen as the national cochlear implant centers (National Cochlear Implantation) for Central zone. Patients from the federal and provincial clubs who have hearing problems and fit for cochlear implants will be referred to the department for further treatment.

In terms of learning, ORL Department Sungai Buloh Hospital is one of the training centers for

The department expanded its services by visiting specialist clinics in the Tanjung Karang Hospital with a frequency of once a month.

Since it opened, the Department has been successful in improving and expanding the scope of services ORL.

Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Hospital Sungai Buloh provide effective and quality treatment to patients who have problems / diseases associated with ear, nose and throat with staff trained to provide customer satisfaction.

objectives

Department of Otorhinolaryngology provide services to internal and external customers as: -

  • Patients in the clinical treatment services

  • Courses and Learning

The services provided are called clinical treatment services, where staff provide treatment called "Clinical Care Providers" and called Patient customers.

Services Provided

  • ORL specialist clinic for outpatients referred suffering from ORL.

  • Performing surgery on patients who have had ORL either under local anesthesia (LA) or general anesthesia (GA).

  • Allergy Testing Clinic (Allergic Skin Prick test) - Where the test is conducted in the arm to identify the type of allergy faced by patients with Allergic Rhinitis.

  • Clinic Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) - This is a non-invasive procedure in which tissue is taken by using the aspiration technique cells. Diagnosis of inflammation or tumors in the head and neck can be identified using this method. This procedure is carried out with the cooperation of the Department of Pathology.

  • Clinic Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). - Patients who have problems with sleep apnea will be screened, followed by a sleep study test and thus provide either medical or surgical treatment.

  • Clinic Head & Neck Cancer - Patients who are diagnosed with cancer in the nose, throat, ears or neck will be given special treatment in the clinic. This special clinic to spend more time counseling patients and their families.

  • Services Swallowing Assessment / FESS - This procedure is the inspection carried out by a relatively both ORL and Specialist Medical Rehabilitation Officer (Speech Therapy) in treating patients who have trouble swallowing.

  • Audiology services. - Controlled by Medical Rehabilitation Officer (Hearing) or known as Audiologist.

Among the services offered are:

        • Test hearing children and adults

        • Hearing aid services

        • Cochlear Implant Program Rehabilatasi

        • Infant hearing screening test in the NICU

  • Speech Therapy Services - It is operated by Medical Rehabilitation Officer (Speech Therapy) otherwise known as Speech Therapist

The service provided is

        • Make diagnoses and provide treatment for speech and language problems such as language delays Speech, Hearing impairment, Articulation, Feeding, Voice disorder, resonance problem, Fluency disorder augmentative and Alternative Communication

        • Swallowing Clinic undergoing

        • Cochlear Implant Rehabilitation

  • Cochlear Implant Program Services.

Identify and filter appropriate patients, perform surgery and after surgery rehabilatasi. This involves specialist ORL (Otologist), Medical Rehabilitation Officer (Hearing) and Medical Rehabilitation Officer (Speech Therapy)

  • Visits to Specialists ORL Clinic, Hospital Tanjung Karang Monday of the fourth week of each month. The visit will be carried out by specialist ORL rotation.
